The programme will provide structured exposure to merchandise administration, data capturing, stock flow, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. The intern will support the Planning, Buying, and Store Operations teams by assisting with administrative processes, monitoring product movement, and maintaining accurate information that supports sound merchandise decisions.
The ideal candidate is an N6 graduate who is highly organised, eager to learn, analytical, and detail orientated. The successful candidate should have good Excel skills, a passion for retail, and a willingness to grow within the merchandise environment. Programme duties and responsibilities
- Assist with setting up new product SKUs and capturing product information accurately.
- Support the creation and tracking of purchase orders and related merchandise documents.
- Maintain and update product information, price lists, and SKU data.
- Assist with product order sheets, buying documents, and range review preparation.
- Prepare samples for range reviews and merchandising presentations.
- Support planners with weekly sales, stock, and performance reporting.
- Assist with tracking store stock levels and monitoring sell-through performance.
- Work closely with Marketing, Buying, Planning, and Operations to support product readiness.
- Assist with daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal performance reports.
- Learn how to analyse sales trends, store feedback, and product performance.
- Assist with dispatch instructions for warehouse order execution.
- Track purchase orders to support compliance and timely delivery.
Work experience:
No previous work experience is required; however, any retail, administration, customer service, or volunteer experience will be advantageous.
Education:
- Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
- Completed N6 qualification in Business Management, Management Assistant, Business Administration, Office Administration, Business Studies, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Candidate must require practical workplace experience to complete their National Diploma / Work Integrated Learning requirement.
Technical Skills:
Computer literacy is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, will be advantageous.
Analytical Skills:
Good numerical skills and the ability to learn how to interpret sales and stock data.
