We're Hiring: Senior Storeman

Reporting To: Inventory Manager
About the Role
The Senior Storeman is responsible for the accurate, safe, and efficient management of all inventory within the store and warehouse, including raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, consumables, and finished goods used in the manufacture, assembly, and refurbishment of automated cash acceptance vaults, disposable cash bags, and validator units.
The role ensures that production, refurbishment, and after-sales operations are not disrupted by stock unavailability while maintaining inventory accuracy, traceability, and compliance with SHEQ and company procedures. The Senior Storeman also provides day-to-day supervision of store personnel and reports directly to the Inventory Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management

Manage the receipt, storage, issuing, and dispatch of all raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, consumables, and finished goods related to automated cash acceptance vaults, disposable bags, and validator units.

Maintain accurate, real-time stock records in the ERP system and ensure all inventory transactions are properly authorised and documented.

Plan and execute regular cycle counts and support annual stock takes.

Investigate, analyse, and resolve stock variances.
Production & Operational Support
-
Kit and stage components for production and assembly lines according to production schedules.

Support refurbishment and repair work orders by ensuring component availability.

Monitor stock levels against minimum, maximum, and reorder thresholds.

Proactively identify and escalate inventory shortages that may impact production or after-sales service.
Warehouse Operations
-
Ensure proper storage, handling, and protection of materials and sensitive electronic components.

Oversee receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, and dispatch activities.

Maintain warehouse organisation and efficient stock flow processes.

Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and best practices.
Goods receiving & quality control

Inspect incoming goods against purchase orders and quality requirements.

Process and manage supplier returns and non-conformances.

Maintain supplier documentation, certificates of conformance, and traceability records.

Escalate damaged or non-conforming goods to the appropriate stakeholders.
Team Leadership
-
Supervise Storemen and Store Assistants.

Allocate work and monitor daily productivity.

Conduct on-the-job training and skills development.
-
Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
SHEQ & Housekeeping
-
Enforce housekeeping, safety, and SHEQ standards within the warehouse.

Ensure correct handling of ESD-sensitive components.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with 5S standards.
-
Promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Reporting & continuous improvement
-
Prepare and submit stock, slow-moving stock, and obsolescence reports.

Support initiatives that improve inventory control, warehouse efficiency, and cost reduction.

Identify opportunities to reduce shrinkage, damage, and obsolete stock.

Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the inventory function.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
-
Matric essential (Grade 12)
-
Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Warehouse Management.

Forklift Operator's Licence
-
Minimum 5 years' experience within a storeman or warehouse environment (essential).

Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior or supervisory capacity (essential).

Manufacturing, electronics, engineering, or assembly environment experience (preferred).

Experience handling ESD-sensitive electronic components (preferred).
Key Competencies

Strong inventory control and stock management knowledge.

Sound understanding of FIFO, FEFO, cycle counting, and min/max planning principles.

Experience using ERP and stock management systems.

Computer literacy, including MS Excel.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective people management and supervisory ability.
