Purpose of the job
As a Senior Salesforce Customer Data Cloud (CDC) Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing and optimising the Salesforce CDC platform. This position involves working cross-functionally with teams across Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud, and Data Platform, as well as liaising with product managers and engineers from the platform, and add-on services teams.
In this hands-on role, you will design, develop, and manage CDC data models and robust API data feeds that are essential for the CDC to ingest and produce information for various systems and business functions. These data feeds are critical for constructing an enriched customer profile view, KPIs, advanced segmentation, analytics, and multichannel communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities

Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, providing high-value solutions while maintaining open communication channels.
- Gather and document requirements for CDC features and capabilities, including scope, effort estimates, and solution design.
- Consult product managers on breaking down CDC projects into releases with epics and features for sprints, highlighting risks and dependencies.
- Implement and configure all aspects of CDC features and capabilities and beyond.
- Design optimal data models to create enhanced consumer 360 profile for channel communications purposes.
- Integrate and unify various data sources within CDC such as: Consumer profile, membership, loyalty program behaviour, customer service, channel communications engagement, event tracking from mobile app and website; abandoned cart, experience and purchase transactions and other 3rd party data sources related to consumer travel journey.
- Develop, test, and deploy solutions within CDC environments and manage their ongoing maintenance.
- Conduct continuous research and development on the latest Customer Data Cloud features and capabilities.
- Document and deliver proof of concepts, such as Einstein, zero ETL integrations, transitioning them from concept to production.
- Prepare user training manuals and conduct onboarding sessions for new users.
- Apply CDC features and capabilities to use cases while considering limitations and optimising solution for the best results.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
Skills and Knowledge

Strong foundation in core Salesforce ecosystem (Sales, Service and Marketing Cloud) architecture.
- Proficient in Salesforce basics, Apex, VisualForce, Lightning, RDBMS, and JavaScript for Sales Cloud/Service Cloud.
- Strong understanding of customer data platforms, modern data infrastructure (Snowflake is a plus) and integrating these with CDC.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Multiple Salesforce developer-related certifications (CDC certification is a plus).
Experience
- Hands-on Implemented and integrated Salesforce CDC across at least one of the following verticals: consumer loyalty programs, travel and hospitality (airlines and hotels), retail (shopping mall brands), or financial services (banks).
- Designed and implemented Salesforce data models which are capable of consuming external non-salesforce data sources while integrating with other Salesforce ecosystem products.
- Configured out-of-the-box Salesforce ecosystem integrations (CRM, Service, Marketing Cloud, etc.).
- Integrated Salesforce ecosystem products with external systems and services whil consuming GraphQL, REST and/or SOAP APIs.
