Job Overview
The Cove Restaurant at Ocean Breeze Hotel is currently seeking an experienced Waiter/Waitress to join our front-of-house team. We are looking for a service-driven individual with previous experience within the hospitality and hotel industry who is passionate about guest service and maintaining high operational standards.
The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years’ experience in the industry, strong communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform professionally in a fast-paced environment. Experience within conferences, events, and banqueting operations will be considered a strong advantage.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong menu and service knowledge, confidence in using POS systems, accurate stock and inventory management skills, and the ability to contribute positively to team culture and operational standards. Opportunities for growth into Junior Management roles are available based on performance, leadership ability, and skill level.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver attentive, friendly, and professional service to all guests.
- Work collaboratively with the FOH team to ensure smooth and efficient service operations.
- Assist with conferences, events, and banqueting service where required.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Demonstrate strong menu knowledge and confidently guide guests.
- Accurately process orders and payments using POS systems.
- Assist with stock takes, inventory checks, and operational reporting where required.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and service standards at all times.
- Uphold hotel and restaurant procedures, policies, and grooming standards.
- Contribute positively to team culture and operational efficiency.
The Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience within the hospitality, restaurant, or hotel industry.
- Experience within conferences, events, or banqueting operations is advantageous.
- Experience using POS systems (e.g. Semper, Pilot, or similar).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Good numeracy and cash-handling abilities.
- Experience with stock takes, inventory control, and operational reporting.
- Professional, well-presented, and service-oriented.
- Organised, adaptable, and able to multitask in a busy environment.
- A strong team player with a positive attitude and good work ethic.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Must preferably reside within the Helderberg area.
