We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Health & Safety Manager to lead our Health & Safety function and ensure the highest standards of safety, legal compliance, and operational excellence across all our projects.
Purpose of the Role
The Health & Safety Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, client requirements, and company standards. The successful candidate will drive a proactive safety culture, mentor Health & Safety personnel, and support operational teams in achieving a zero-harm working environment.
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field.
Registered as a Construction Health & Safety Manager with the SACPCMP (preferred).
SAMTRAC Certificate (essential).
Incident Investigation and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) training.
Valid South African driver’s licence.
ISO Internal Auditor
Experience Required
Minimum of 10 years’ Health & Safety experience within the civil engineering and construction industry.
Minimum of 5 years in a senior Health & Safety management role.
Proven experience managing Health & Safety on large civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
Experience on projects such as dams, roads, bridges, pipelines, bulk earthworks, water and wastewater treatment works, and reinforced concrete structures.
Experience working with clients such as SANRAL, the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), Rand Water, Transnet, Eskom, municipalities, or similar organisations.
Demonstrated ability to manage Health & Safety across multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the company’s Health & Safety Department.
Develop, implement and maintain the Health & Safety Management System.
Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993), Construction Regulations, and all applicable legislation.
Develop and review Health & Safety policies, procedures, standards, and safe work methods.
Conduct Health & Safety audits and inspections across all project sites.
Monitor compliance with client Health & Safety specifications and contractual requirements.
Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Facilitate baseline, issue-based, and task-specific risk assessments.
Develop and implement annual Health & Safety training programmes and awareness initiatives.
Prepare and present monthly Health & Safety performance reports to Executive Management.
Liaise with clients, the Department of Employment and Labour, and other regulatory authorities.
Monitor subcontractor compliance with company and client Health & Safety requirements.
Drive continuous improvement through proactive safety initiatives and performance monitoring.
Manage, mentor, and develop Safety Officers and Health & Safety Administrators across multiple projects.
Manage the company’s ISO audit programme, including preparation for internal and external audits, coordinating audit activities, addressing findings, and ensuring timely close-out of corrective actions.
Maintain compliance with applicable ISO standards and ensure that the company’s Health & Safety Management System remains aligned with relevant ISO requirements and certification standards.
Maintain and continuously improve ISO-related documentation, procedures, records, registers, and management system requirements.

Pay: R85 000,00 - R110 000,00 per month
