Role Purpose
The Product Specialist will be responsible for managing and promoting the range of Lubricants offered by BMG. This role requires an in-depth understanding of lubricants, strong product knowledge, and the ability to develop and implement strategies to maximise sales and market share.

1. Communication
- Represent the company in all forms of communication, maintaining good working relationships and
- networks with internal and external stakeholders, external suppliers, and clients.
- Respond to and follow up on all enquiries by email, telephone and personal visits as required.
- Responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a strong customer service focus and quality communication and output in all interactions with
- key stakeholders and external contacts.
- Measures of Effectiveness / Success
- All query requests are responded to within 24 hours.
- Communications with all stakeholders are professional.
- Management feedback.
- All internal and external reports are accurate and delivered by the deadline.
2. Product Management
- Product failure analysis and failure report writing.
- Product identification.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for consumable products, including lubricants, and other related items.
- Research and stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities and threats.
- Monitor product performance, sales trends, and customer feedback to assess product viability and make recommendations for product improvements or enhancements.
3. Product Promotion and Marketing
- Develop and execute marketing strategies and promotional campaigns to drive awareness and demand for consumable products.
- Create product collateral, including brochures, technical datasheets, and online content, to support sales and marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop product-focused content for websites, social media, and other marketing channels.
4. Sales Support and Training
- Provide sales support and technical assistance to the sales team, including product training, technical presentations, and assistance with customer inquiries.
- Work closely with the sales team to identify customer needs, develop tailored solutions, and close sales opportunities.
- Conduct product training sessions for internal staff and external customers to enhance product knowledge and promote product awareness.
5. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing expert advice and guidance on product selection, application, and usage.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and effectively to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
6. Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and health and safety standards.
7. Sales
- Meet sales targets against specific product price lists in accordance with divisional strategy and set budgets.
- Maintain a regular calling schedule with BMG branch representatives to customers.
- Identify a set of key accounts to target and grow to an agreed budget.
- Identify new customers.
- Negotiate contract extensions and increase justifications.
- Joint calling with Branch staff and customers.
- Conduct regular training presentations for both BMG staff and customers.
- Develop and maintain product and marketing literature.
- Assessing of Branches and customers when required.
- Form and maintain relationships and regular communication with existing suppliers.
- Customer surveys and troubleshooting are undertaken on site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- National Certificate NQF Level 4 / Grade 12.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. (Advantageous).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Lubricants’ environment.
- Proven experience in product management, sales, or marketing, preferably in the industrial consumables or
- related industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of lubricants, and related items.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and
- persuasively.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse market data, sales trends, and customer feedback to inform
- decision-making.
- Results-oriented with a track record of driving sales growth and achieving targets.
