Villa Helderberg is a charming, family-run 4-star boutique guesthouse in the beautiful Helderberg area of Somerset West. Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented, and energetic Housekeeper to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation across our guest rooms, bathrooms, public areas, and facilities. You will play a key role in ensuring every guest feels welcomed and comfortable in our home. You will help serve and prepare breakfast for our guests every morning.
This is a hands-on position in a small, family-oriented guesthouse where flexibility, pride in your work, and a positive attitude are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough daily cleaning of guest rooms (stay-overs and check-outs), including making beds with fresh linen, ironing, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and attention to every detail.
- Assist with general housekeeping tasks, including deep cleans, special requests, and occasional support with breakfast service or guest needs. Clean and sanitise bathrooms thoroughly, replenishing amenities, toiletries, and towels to 4-star standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of public areas, kitchen, lounges, dining/breakfast areas, patios, and outdoor spaces.
- Handle laundry: washing, drying, ironing, and folding of bed linen, towels, and guest items as needed.
- Restock guest supplies, mini-bars (where applicable), and cleaning carts.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or stock shortages promptly to management.
- Adhere to all health, safety, hygiene, and infection control standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience (minimum 1–2 years preferred) in housekeeping at a guesthouse, boutique hotel, or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine pride in delivering high cleanliness standards.
- Reliable, honest, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Good command of English (spoken and basic written).
- Physically fit and able to handle the demands of the role (standing, lifting, bending).
- Must have a valid South African ID or legal right (work permit) to work in South Africa.
- Residing in or near Somerset West, Strand, or Helderberg area is a strong advantage for reliable attendance.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays (typical shifts align with guesthouse operations).
- Availability on-site on working days from 07:30-16:30h (own transport must be arranged).
