At the heart of this role is a commitment to keeping our organisation seamlessly connected.
At the heart of this role is a commitment to keeping our organisation seamlessly connected. As Senior IT Network Engineer, the focus is on safeguarding the stability, performance and integrity of our voice, data, video and wireless network services. Through thoughtful planning, considered design and ongoing optimisation of our LAN and WAN environments, this role enables our people to work confidently and efficiently. It is a position that blends technical depth with collaboration, ensuring that networks not only perform reliably today but are also ready to support future growth. By resolving complex challenges, supporting users with care, and sharing knowledge across teams, this role plays a key part in nurturing a culture where high performance and engagement naturally thrive.
Qualification Requirements
This role calls for a strong academic and professional foundation that reflects both technical credibility and a commitment to continuous learning. A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a closely related advanced technology discipline is essential. Alongside this, recognised professional certification in Networking demonstrates mastery of core infrastructure principles. Certification in IT Security underlines the ability to protect our environments responsibly, while an IT Service Management qualification reflects an understanding of service excellence and accountability. Together, these qualifications ensure the role holder is well equipped to lead with confidence and integrity in a complex technology landscape.
The ideal candidate brings between six to eight years of meaningful, hands-on experience within enterprise network environments. This includes a proven track record of designing and implementing LAN, WAN, WLAN and WWAN solutions that are resilient and fit for purpose. Experience in network capacity planning, applying sound security principles and following recognised network management best practices is key. A deep, practical understanding of network and PC operating systems, telephony platforms and contemporary network hardware, protocols and internet standards is expected. Strong troubleshooting capability, familiarity with testing tools for voice and data circuits, and an awareness of data privacy practices and legislation further support success in this role. Experience guiding or supporting less experienced colleagues will be valued, as it reflects a natural approach to leadership and knowledge sharing.
Role Skills Requirements
Success in this role relies on a balanced skill set that combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal capability. Solid project management skills allow for structured planning and confident delivery of complex initiatives, while clear and thoughtful communication ensures collaboration flows smoothly across technical and non-technical audiences alike. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential for producing accurate documentation, engaging with stakeholders and supporting end users effectively. An enquiring mindset, paired with the ability to translate technical detail into practical outcomes, supports learning and adaptability as technologies and business needs evolve.
Role Impact
The Senior IT Network Engineer has a tangible and lasting impact on how the organisation operates and grows. By shaping network strategy alongside senior leaders, maintaining clear and practical documentation, and establishing sound policies and procedures, this role contributes to stability and trust across the business. Through the design, deployment and ongoing management of network infrastructure, the role ensures that people are empowered by technology rather than hindered by it. Active involvement in problem resolution, security management and operational support reinforces a high performance culture where accountability and quality are valued. By mentoring junior team members and sharing expertise, this role also helps develop future capability, strengthening engagement and supporting long-term talent succession. Ultimately, the impact is seen in an environment where people feel supported, systems perform reliably, and the organisation is well positioned for what comes next.
