Purpose of the Job
We are looking for an experienced and passionate person with particular interest in financial processes and continuous improvement wanting to join our Financial Control & Accounting Team (South EMEA) within the Volvo Group.

As Chief Accountant, you will be part of the FCA South EMEA team. You will be responsible for the accuracy of the accounting records of the legal entity and oversee the Financial Accountants.
The Chief Accountant is the functional leader for a team of 3 people, together you ensure and execute reporting to the Volvo Group according to IFRS and are responsible for the local accounting and financial compliance for the legal entity VGSA. You will also take an active part in defining and developing the internal control structures and increasing the internal control awareness on all levels in the company. You are not afraid to make decisions, but you have a feeling for when anchoring is needed.
Reporting: The Chief Accountant reports to the Director FCA South Africa.
Job Objectives:

Manage and support a team of financial accountants.

Monitor and provide guidance/training to offshore Accounting Services teams.

Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Review and approve manual journals and balance sheet reconciliations (BSRs) in a timely manner.

Continuously monitor movements in high-risk financial statement items.

Drive effective daily controls, monitor key accounting processes, and implement performance improvements where needed.

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all accounting-related topics and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Support stakeholders across the organisation with technical accounting-related queries throughout the closing process.

Take overall responsibility for monthly reporting to the Volvo Group.

Present monthly financial performance to the Chief Financial Officer and Director of FCA.

Ensure completion of all statutory and compliance reporting requirements for the legal entity.

Coordinate and facilitate external audits for the legal entity.

Ensure compliance with Volvo Group internal controls and Financial Policies and Procedures (FPP).

Participate in and/or lead projects impacting financial records, representing FCA where required.

Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management.
