RCL FOODS entrusts the Quality Assurance Technician to assist with the quality assurance service to the business in order to ensure that products produced by the company are fit for use by the consumers according to Company’s specifications and standards.
The role is based in Pretoria West
Inbound
- Analyses all packaging materials for non-conformities against company’s specifications and standards.
- Liaise with packaging suppliers and drive corrective actions.
- Submits detected non-conformities to the QA Manager, Planning and Buying in order to follow up with suppliers.
- Carries out Audits in the Warehouse and Dispensary to ensure that GMP is adhered to.
- Is responsible for processing material returns advice and supervises removal of poor quality material from site.
- Drive packaging supplier approval with supply management
- Ensures that all transactions are recorded on SAP daily.
- Ensure that all packaging suppliers are compliant with required QA certification/audits
- Provide statistical data for SPC and process capability for inbound materials
- Provide technical support and expertise to suppliers for capability assessment, innovation execution, QMS application
Packing Hall
- Manage quality stream during packaging trials
- Assist with export orders
- Carries out Factory quality audits on the packed products and decides whether or not to release the finished goods to the trade.
- Ensures that line quality checks are being done as per SOP
- Monitors packed masses on the MCOM (Mass Control Mgt. System).
Outbound
- Analyses stock age report and liaises with Logistics Officer at the warehouse on how to handle stock (e.g. old stock, out first).
Laboratory Requirements
- Ensures company test methodology is followed
- Scoping and specing of lab equipment where relevant
- Ensure supplier meets company standards
Consumer and Customer Focus
- Consumer/Customer care line interface and trouble shooting
- Investigate packaging material consumer and customer complaints and develop quality assurance improvement systems for the factory.
- Collect and statistically evaluate supplier quality data to identify quality improvement opportunities within the supply chain
- Work with the suppliers to develop corrective action plans to correct any process failings and drive improvement in quality and productivity.
Innovations
- Supports all packaging related Innovations
- Can decide in consultation with QA & Production Manager whether or not a trial passes due to the quality of functionality of the packaging material on the lines
Reporting
- Report supplier non-conformance trends on a weekly and monthly basis.
Provides reports to procurement/buying teams for supplier reviews
National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent relevant to the job e.g. Packaging technology / Food Science etc.
