Chief Operating Officer – Franchise Operations & Growth
A+Students Abacus Maths South Africa is seeking a high-impact, hands-on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to partner with the Founder/CEO in driving franchise performance, operational excellence, and scalable business growth.
This is a senior leadership role for an execution-focused operator who turns strategy into measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimise the national franchise network to ensure consistent performance and growth.
- Deliver measurable expansion across existing franchises and new territories.
- Enforce franchise accountability for performance, compliance, standards, and execution.
- Provide structured operational, marketing, staffing, and business support to franchisees.
- Convert CEO strategy into clear execution plans and ensure disciplined delivery.
- Oversee Head Office operations, personnel, projects, and external service providers.
- Drive marketing, PR, communications, and brand performance initiatives.
- Identify and develop new franchise, business, and company-owned growth opportunities.
- Track and report on KPIs, enrolments, franchise performance, and growth targets.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to standard.
Essential Requirements
- Mandatory: proven franchise sector experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a COO, Operations Director, General Manager, or Franchise Operations leadership role.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable, commercial results within a franchise environment.
- Evidence of impact in areas such as franchise growth, revenue expansion, territory development, customer acquisition, or turnaround of underperforming units.
- Strong leadership capability with proven ability to manage people, performance, and execution at scale.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and operational discipline.
- Experience in marketing, PR, or business development is a strong advantage.

Employment & Remuneration
Location: Pretoria / Gauteng
Position: Full-time
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential conversion to permanent based on performance review.
Competitive base salary plus a performance-linked incentive structure tied to agreed growth and operational targets.
