Fedics are seeking an Assistant Catering Manager to join our Healthcare division. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Catering Manager with the day-to-day operations of delivering a catering service that meets the required standards.

Assist with the production of meals, snacks, and functions, ensuring quality standards are met
Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently; step in where required
Assist with menu planning and costing Place supplier orders and manage procurement
Complete administrative tasks (returns, salary variations, etc.) Receive, issue, and manage stock (quality, quantity, pricing, storage, rotation)
Maintain hygiene standards in line with statutory and company requirements

Manage discipline issues and staff relations, escalating where needed
Ensure security of stock, cash, and facilities
Participate in regular stocktaking
Attend meetings, training, and industry events
Assume full responsibility of operations in the absence of the Catering Manager
Lead, motivate, and develop staff
Manage service delivery standards and customer experience
Operate and manage systems (Menutec, Plankomat, biometric) Ensure financial control, including: Sales control sheets Cash handling and reconciliation Monthly closure Weekly financial file management
Compile and understand weekly/monthly P&L reports
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Handle HR and IR-related matters (performance, training, development)
Build and maintain strong client and customer relationships
Analyse client needs and proactively manage complaints
Assist with functions, promotions, and food & beverage events
Stay updated on food trends and best practices
Ensure profitability of the unit at all times
Support overall operations and assist where required

Minimum Matric Relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) Minimum 2 years’ experience in catering/restaurant industry (supervisory level) Previous experience in a similar role Strong kitchen and functions experience Own Transport required
