Purpose of the position
The accountant role is a dynamic one with a multitude of responsibilities within the Finance team and includes future growth potential.
Key responsibilities of the position
o Preparing and maintaining financial records and documents accurately and timeously;
o Responsibility for accounting processes and tasks (payments/fees/general ledger/ account reconciliations);
o Co-ordinating and liaising with internal parties to support intercompany activities;
o Monitoring and analysing financial data to identify discrepancies;
o Preparing/assisting with the preparation of financial and departmental reports/budgets/annual financial statements;
o Assisting with the preparation of company taxes; and
o Ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines affecting the finances of the company.
Knowledge and experience required
Skills, know-how and experience:
o Solid knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles and practices; and
o Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, and an advantage if able to work with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Great Plains.
Technical/ professional qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in Accounting with Post Graduate Diploma or Honours in Accounting or similar; and
o Completed articles or with at least 3-5 years’ work experience in a similar role in the financial sector.
