Job Profile:
Responsible for the production and distribution systems as well as recoveries of all Utilities on Pelindaba East.
Key Performance Areas
1. Strategic Alignment
- Ensuring availability and the proper metering and recovery of the following Utilities:
ü Steam
ü Rand Water
ü Compressed Air
ü Demineralised Water
ü Liquid Nitrogen; and
ü Sewage Plant Steam.
2. Process Management
- Metering and Distribution systems:
ü Ensure the proper functioning of all metering points;
ü Maintaining a proper record system;
ü Carry out building inspections where possible to identify any leaks that are unaccounted for and have it repaired; and
ü Identify any abnormalities in consumption figures and investigate same.
- Drafting of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
- Drafting of annual water usage and water plan.
3. Operational Efficiency
- Assisting the operators to maintain the maximum efficiency and productivity of the following operations:
ü Steam generation plant and distribution
ü Demin generation plant and distribution
ü Sewage plant
ü Compressed air compressors and distribution
ü Receiving and distribution of rand Water
ü The issuing of Works Permits
ü Arrange isolation for maintenance purposes with clients prior to isolation
ü Isolation: Assist or where necessarily do it self
ü Keeping record of all safety equipment and safety clothing issued to workers
ü See that it is always in a safe and functional condition
ü Keep a good relation between himself and operating personnel
ü Ordering of material and chemicals
ü Check and approve accounts before payment.
- Attend to the following general issues:
ü Do client visits and ensure customer satisfaction and maintain good relationship with clients
ü Conduct customer satisfaction surveys; and
ü Health and Safety Representative.
4. Cost Management
- Operate and utilise metering systems in most cost effective and productive manner.
- Ensure maximum recovery of all Utilities.
- Ensure cost effective utilisation of resources and optimise recoveries to ensure financial break even.
5.People Management
- Human Resources: Adhere to HR rules, i.e. working hours, sick leave, leave etc.
- Manage the overtime.
- Strive to always satisfy customers in service provision and communication with customers.
- Support and work according to QMS rules and utilise prescribed documents.
- Supervise interns.
- Ensure the implementation of Knowledge Retention Plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- National Diploma in Mechanical/Chemical/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Must be willing to be on standby.
- Must be willing to work overtime.
- At least 7 years’ working experience in similar plants with at least years’ experience as Shift Foreman.
