The purpose of this role is to act as a leader with full people management responsibilities over an HR team assigned to support HR core/essential work. This role reports to Area HR Manager with frequent partnership with Area Strategic HR Partner, HR Benefits Specialist, workforce and area leaders, and headquarters COEs. Employees at this level work with a high degree of latitude, have expert knowledge, and handle the most complex issues and problems.
AS THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Accountability for management or delivery of the essential activities through the HR Core team of generalists.
- Provide people leadership and development to the HR Core team of generalists, responsible for:
- Talent Acquisition
- Talent Development & Culture
- Operations/Compliance, and
- Employee Relations
- Contribute to the development of and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Provide consultative leadership support to the team, and managers.
- Serve as a point of contact for and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees to resolve workplace issues, including escalated HR needs and incidents, effectively.
- Assist with area-wide projects.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
- Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend and/or be worthy to possess one.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in HR/ Industrial Psychology or related field, coupled with at least 8 years HR professional experience.
- HR Knowledge: Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and regulations is essential.
- Candidates should be familiar with HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compensation, performance management, and employee relations.
- Previous people management experience in HR is critical: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years’ experience leading/managing an HR team.
- Key skills and core competencies include the ability to:
- Lead an HR Team and build relationships.
- Consult with business leaders and deliver excellent customer service.
- Coach and develop employees.
- Lead and implement organizational change.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally through influence and compromise.
- Resolve employee relations issues.
