VEHICLE MONITORING OFFICER
Working Hours:
Monday to Saturday, on a rotating shift basis.
The earliest shift starts at 06:30, with later shifts ending once daily operations are completed. Working hours may vary depending on operational requirements and seasonal demand, with operating hours generally extending later during the summer months.
About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable, alert, and proactive Vehicle Monitoring Officer to join our logistics team.
The primary purpose of this role is to monitor the company's delivery vehicles throughout the operating day, ensuring that drivers and crews comply with road traffic legislation and company procedures, while providing operational support to the delivery and sales teams.
The successful candidate will monitor vehicle movements using the company's tracking and camera systems, identify and report incidents or non-compliance, communicate with drivers and internal departments, and assist with customer and sales-related delivery enquiries.
This is a fast-paced operational role requiring someone who can remain focused for extended periods, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and remain calm when dealing with incidents or urgent situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor delivery vehicles using the company's vehicle tracking system
- Monitor driver and crew compliance with road traffic legislation and company procedures
- Identify and report speeding, route deviations, unauthorised stops, excessive idling, and other irregular activity
- Monitor vehicle movements and delivery progress throughout the operating day
- Identify potential operational issues and escalate them to management
- Monitor live vehicle camera feeds where applicable
- Record and report incidents, driver non-compliance, and other operational concerns
- Complete accurate daily monitoring and incident reports
- Follow up on incidents and provide management with the required information
- Handle telephone calls from sales representatives and customers regarding delivery enquiries
- Liaise with drivers, sales representatives, warehouse, logistics, and management regarding delivery-related issues
- Provide updates regarding vehicle locations and delivery progress when required
- Escalate serious incidents, accidents, non-compliance, or operational concerns immediately
- Perform other monitoring and operational tasks as required by management
Requirements:
- Previous experience in fleet monitoring, logistics, dispatch, control room operations, or a similar environment will be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills
- Good telephone and communication skills
- Ability to remain focused and alert for extended periods
- Good computer literacy and ability to learn new software systems
- Ability to accurately record information and complete reports
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and varying operational hours
Advantageous:
- Previous experience with vehicle tracking or fleet management systems
- Experience in logistics, transport, dispatch, or delivery operations
- Experience dealing with customers or sales representatives
- Previous experience monitoring driver behaviour or compliance
