A family is looking for a COMPANION / FACILITATOR for their son

Children's Ages: 8 year old (Grade 3) - Boy
Child’s Neurodivergence Snapshot: Autistic with a PDA profile, has ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Extreme Anxiety.
Challenges: transitions, extreme sensitivity to his and others’ emotions. Needs to feel as though he has control, due to high anxiety levels.
Support Style: Equality and autonomy. Responds well to people who share his special interests (soccer, video games, dinosaurs, Star Wars, Cars, and Pokémon). Needs predictability with room for flexibility. Needs a person who is very patient, constantly calm, and regulated. The successful candidate will be able to build a trusting relationship where he feels safe.

Duties: For the rest of this year, we need a companion who is available to be a school facilitator for next year.
2026 (Companion Duties): Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the child by acting as a positive companion and role model, engaging in activities such as soccer, video games, cooking, experiments, and other fun, educational experiences while encouraging physical activity to reduce screen time. Plan structured daily and weekly routines with flexibility to adapt as needed, using creative and innovative approaches to make learning enjoyable and accommodate his individual needs.
2027 onwards (Facilitator Duties): Accompany him to school and provide ongoing support throughout the school day, ensuring he feels safe, secure, and emotionally supported. Recognise and respond appropriately to signs of dysregulation, assisting him to regulate his emotions when needed. Work closely with his teacher to support his academic progress, allowing flexibility where appropriate, and maintain regular communication with the parents regarding his development, wellbeing, progress, and any additional support required.
Special Requirements: Preferably male, or sporty female who likes video games. Experience with special needs children and school facilitation.
Curriculum: Not confirmed yet. Most likely Cambridge Curriculum.
Start Date & Contract Term: ASAP – permanent
Salary: R16 000 - R20 000pm - depending experience, special needs experience and any qualifications (Gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95)
