We are searching for a reliable quantity surveyor to join our capable team of professionals. The Quantity Surveyor will be tasked with analysing existing budgets and making improvements, reviewing plans and preparing quantity estimates, negotiating with various contractors and vendors, as well as building relationships with clients and site managers.
PURPOSE:
Supporting and coordinating plumbing projects. A solid understanding of plumbing systems. Work closely with the project team to ensure seamless project execution, and efficient resource allocation. Managing project costs, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and to the required quality standards. This role involves assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, managing contracts, and providing financial analysis throughout the project lifecycle.

- Perform quantity take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates for plumbing projects.

- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for plumbing materials and services.
- Prepare and submit detailed cost breakdowns, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor project costs, analyse variances, and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
- Support the project team in managing project budgets and tracking expenses.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, including cost forecasts, budget variances, and cash flow projections.
- Assist in analysing project financial performance and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Makes sure all aspects of the project run smoothly and efficiently.
- Work with various members of the project team and the client to develop a timeline, create schedules, and oversee progress to make sure goals are met on time.
- Responsible for coordinating, developing project strategies and attending meetings.
- Coordinating multiple aspects of a project in a fast-paced and challenging work environment, communicating all the issues and risks of the project.
- Monitoring project progress and creating project status reports for project managers and stakeholders.
- Assisting with resource scheduling so that team members have the resources they need to complete their tasks.
- Scheduling stakeholder meetings and facilitating communication between the project manager and stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
- Managing project management documents such as the project plan, budget, schedule or scope statement, as directed by the project manager.
- Support project managers and team members to help them complete project tasks
- Set goals and objectives by delegating and organizing work for the Project Administrator.
- Support team members when implementing risk management strategies.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on relationship building, understanding business requirements, and management of business expectations.

- Execute the project lessons learned process to maximize learning from all projects during and after the execution, carrying out an internal review with the delivery team and actively seeking feedback from the customer; implement any corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
- Manage customer/partner relationships from project authorisation and initiation through to project closure ensuring regular communication and reporting of project progress versus the delivery contract.
- To raise invoices promptly upon achievement of milestones and deliverables and confirming payment.
- Estimating, Purchasing, and Project coordination with a focus on administrative scheduling, timelines, and material/installation checklists.
- Managing project management documents such as the project plan, budget, schedule, or scope statement, as directed by the project manager.
- Utilize spreadsheets to track budgets, dates, and other information.
- Organize contracts, quotations, reports, and invoices.
- Assist in the management of project budgets, including tracking expenses and preparing financial reports.
- Assist in the establishment and maintenance of project documentation, including project plans, and status reports.
- Photocopying and scanning documents.
- Intense focus on customer quality, accuracy and responsiveness.
- Maintaining general office files, including job files, vendor files, and other files related to the company’s operations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Prepare regular progress reports, highlighting key milestones and project status updates.
- Assist in preparing project closeout documentation, including as-built drawings and final cost reports.
- Ensure proper record-keeping and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Compiling spreadsheets and reports on all activities.
- Maintain all filling processes.
- Conduct research on projects as requested by the Program Manager/ Senior Project Manager.
- Raising and recording variations and providing support to update the business case to provide continued business justification.
- Monitor performance reports on all projects/tenders.
- Adhoc duties.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in project management / quantity surveying / engineering studies / construction management, or a related field.
- Registration with a Professional Body in the construction industry.
- Drivers License - Code 8
- Proven experience (5+ years) in quantity surveying and project coordination, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent People Skills
- Solid understanding of plumbing and construction systems, codes, and industry best practices.
