Our client from the Insurance Industry seeks to employ a newly qualified CA(SA) who wants to move into a Financial Manager role. The successful incumbent will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing financial processes to ensure the financial health and operational effectiveness of the organization. The primary objective as a Finance Manager is to take responsibility for all strategic and operational level management accounting functions, this includes but is not limited to monthly management accounts, statutory reporting and budgets. They also need to ensure that all accounting related tasks are professionally executed according to company and legal requirements while also leading a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Being a strategic partner to the Group and subsidiary businesses
- Develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis and present key insights to support decision making.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and presentations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with department heads to create and manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor and control budgetary expenses to achieve financial objectives.
- Manage and optimize cash flow by overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions
- Implement effective working capital management strategies.
- Identify and assess financial risks, proposing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Establish and maintain robust internal control to safeguard company assets.
- Assist with capital raising where required.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team’s capabilities.

Abilities and Competencies
Must be a CA(SA)
A solid and strong understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
Working Knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Audit and supervisory experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
Complex problem-solving ability.
South African VAT and Income Tax
Advanced skills in Excel
Sage (Advanced Level / Super User)
Understanding and implementation of IFRS 17
Qualification
- Matric Qualification/Grade 12 or equivalent
- B. Com Financial Accounting or similar Accounting degree and or Chartered Accounting qualification, CA(SA)
- Articles and prior audit experience (advantageous)
- You will need a stable track record in the field of Auditing and or Accounting
