The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a qualified individual to manage all aspects of the sub-programme for management and implementation of capital and maintenance of Health Infrastructure projects for a defined region set in line with the Western Cape Government values.
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant qualification; Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA); A minimum of 6 years relevant post qualification technical (mechanical engineering) experience; A valid code B driving licence.

Manage technical services and support in conjunction with Engineers, Technologists and associates in field, workshop and technical office activities, Ensure the promotion of safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements, Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology; and Ensure quality assurance of technical designs with specifications and authorise/make recommendations for approval by the relevant authority; Perform administrative and related functions: Provide inputs into the budgeting process, Compile and submit reports as required; Research and development: Continuous professional development to keep up with new technologies and procedures, Research/literature studies on technical engineering technology to improve expertise; and to liaise with relevant bodies/councils on engineering-related matters.
Knowledge of the following: Project management; Technical design and analysis; Research and development; Computer-aided engineering; AutoCAD drawing; Knowledge of Legal compliance; Technical report writing; Technical consulting.

Grade A: R 522 741- R 598 158 per annum; Grade B: R 884 736- R 1254 282 per annum (Salary will be determined based on post registration experience as per OSD prescribed)
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD) are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

These candidates will be required to do practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
