Quantity Surveyor (Mining)
Our client, a leading mining company and significant co-producer of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) and chrome concentrates, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their mining operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs, contracts, procurement support, and commercial activities related to mining construction and infrastructure projects.
- Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the mining, EPCM, construction, or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience working on mining infrastructure, plant, underground, or construction projects.
- Strong understanding of contracts, cost control, procurement processes, and project commercial management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CCS Candy, BuildSmart, or similar quantity surveying software.
- Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, GCC, or JBCC contract forms.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced mining environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare project estimates, budgets, and cost reports.
- Monitor project expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage contracts, variations, claims, and payment certificates.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements.
- Assist with tender evaluations and procurement processes.
- Review quotations and support supplier and subcontractor negotiations.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Provide regular commercial and project progress updates.
- Ensure compliance with mining, safety, and contractual standards.
- Identify commercial risks and assist with mitigation strategies.
