About the Role
Ntiyiso is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Analyst to join our Revenue Leakage Programme. The successful candidate will support the analysis, preparation, validation, and documentation of data across municipal Big 5 revenue streams, helping to identify revenue leakage opportunities and support evidence-based recovery initiatives. This role is ideal for a technically strong analyst who enjoys working with large and complex datasets, maintaining data integrity, and translating information into meaningful business insights. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Data Analysts and Project Managers to ensure data is accurate, reconciled, traceable, and ready for client validation and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, organise, log and maintain client data extracts in accordance with project governance, confidentiality and evidence management standards.
- Perform data completeness checks and validate requested fields, control totals, extraction periods, unique identifiers and source information.
- Clean, standardise and reconcile data across multiple datasets and systems.
- Conduct matching, profiling and exception testing under the guidance of Senior Data Analysts and Project Managers.
- Prepare analytical outputs relating to billing, metering, tariffs, consumption, payments, credit control and revenue leakage investigations.
- Identify and escalate gaps, inconsistencies, duplicate records, missing information and data quality concerns.
- Maintain data issue logs, validation trackers, evidence registers and reporting inputs.
- Prepare supporting evidence packs, working papers and case-level documentation for validation and implementation activities.
- Support stakeholder validation workshops by preparing data packs, meeting notes, action trackers and follow-up requirements.
- Develop tables, charts, dashboards and visual summaries for programme reporting and client presentations.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality requirements, POPIA regulations and responsible data-handling practices.
- Provide clear and concise written summaries of findings and analytical observations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, BTech or Advanced Diploma in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Commerce, Computer Science or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline will be advantageous.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in data analytics, business intelligence, business analysis, reporting, finance operations or related analytical roles.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis techniques.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python, R, GIS or other analytical tools will be advantageous.
- Strong data cleansing, reconciliation and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with municipal, utility, billing, customer, financial or operational datasets will be advantageous.
