espAfrika has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Finance Manager to spearhead the financial operations and fiscal health of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. This role is central to the festival’s success, requiring a blend of strategic budgeting, rigorous operational control, and high-level stakeholder management.
Responsibilities:
The Financial Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end financial lifecycle of the festival, including but not limited to:
Strategic Budgeting: Creating, managing and monitoring the comprehensive master budget for the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. Executive Liaison: Working closely with the Co-Directors and the Chairman of the Jazz Festival to provide financial insights and strategic advice.
Payment Oversight: Finalizing and processing all festival-related payments, ensuring vendor compliance and cash flow stability.
Financial Reporting: Reporting on financial performance, forecasting and results to the executive board.
Operational Management: Overseeing the accounting team to ensure all ledgers, journals, cashbooks and trial balances are meticulously maintained.
Risk & Compliance: Identifying and mitigating financial risks associated with largescale live events and ensuring all statutory obligations are met.
Audit Management: Maintaining relationships with external auditors and implementing recommendations.
Stakeholder Relations: Fostering constructive working relationships with internal teams, sponsors and external service providers.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
B.Com Honours or Finance Degree (CIMA / CA(SA) preferred).
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in a senior financial role, ideally within the events, entertainment or hospitality industry
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Excel; deep understanding of IFRS and taxation.
- Leadership: Proven capability in leading an operational finance team and managing business process improvements.
- Attributes: An aptitude for numbers with meticulous attention to detail and a proactive 'problem-solver' mindset.
