Position: Grade 8/9 English Teacher (High School)
Role Summary:
Responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging English lessons for Grade 8 and Grade 9 learners in accordance with the curriculum requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective English lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
- Teach language, literature, comprehension, grammar, creative writing, and oral communication skills.
- Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, assessments, and examinations.
- Assess, record, and monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Maintain accurate learner records, marks, attendance, and reports.
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love for reading and language.
- Support learners academically and provide additional assistance where necessary.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding learner progress.
- Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum planning and school initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant degree with a teaching qualification (PGCE).
- Registration with South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Experience teaching English at high school level is advantageous.
- Knowledge of CAPS.
- Valid police clearance/background checks where required.
