- PhD or DSc in Grain Crops: Entomology or Weed Science or Plant Pathology or Nematology.
- At least 8 years post PhD experience in Entomology or Weed Science or Plant Pathology or Nematology in crops.
- At least 8 years’ experience in the management of research teams in Crop Protection in grain crops.
- Proven track record of research management in crop protection in grain crops.
- Minimum of 20 publications in grain crops’ Crop Protection by time of appointment.
- NRF rating of at least C1 will be an added advantage.
- Registration with a scientific and professional body will be an added advantage.
- Proven track record for generating external income for programme and projects in programme.
- Proven track record of building national and international partnerships and networks.
- Proven track record of mentoring and supervising/co-supervising other researchers and students
- Proven track record of strategic and operational planning skills and expertise.
- Proven recognition as a research leader in grain crops on national and international level.
- Proficiency in MS office suite.
- Valid drivers’ license.
