Position Overview
An established legal practice in Cape Town is seeking an experienced and highly competent Senior Conveyancer to join its property department.
This position is ideally suited to an admitted Conveyancer with a minimum of five years' post-admission conveyancing experience who is capable of managing complex transactions independently, maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, and contributing to the overall success of the conveyancing department.
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, commercially minded, and possess excellent organisational and leadership abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing conveyancing matters from inception to registration and finalisation.
- Drafting and preparing transfer, bond and bond cancellation documentation.
- Attending to conventional and sectional title transfers.
- Managing estate transfers and related conveyancing transactions.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, bond originators, financial institutions and the Deeds Office.
- Ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing and overseeing conveyancing documentation and processes.
- Managing multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and service excellence.
- Assisting with workflow management and process improvements within the conveyancing department.
- Providing guidance and support to junior conveyancing staff where required.
- Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and referral partners.
Minimum Requirements
- LLB Degree.
- Admitted Attorney.
- Admitted Conveyancer.
- Admitted Notary.
- Minimum 5 years' post-admission conveyancing experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Proven experience managing conveyancing matters independently.
- Excellent knowledge of property law, conveyancing procedures and Deeds Office practice.
- Strong drafting, organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
Advantageous Experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior conveyancing staff.
- Experience managing high-volume conveyancing matters.
- Familiarity with Lexis Convey or similar conveyancing software.
- Existing relationships with estate agents, bond originators and other property industry stakeholders.
