About the Role
NXG Enterprises delivers a 24/7 crisis text support service, UK. You will respond to real-time text contacts from individuals in mental health distress, conducting risk assessments, delivering de-escalation support, and agreeing safety plans — all via written communication on our secure NXG Thrive platform. This is not a video or phone role. Strong written therapeutic communication is essential.
What You Will Do
- Respond to live text contacts, managing 1–2 concurrent conversations per shift
- Conduct risk assessments and create safety plans with service users in crisis
- Escalate high-risk contacts to the on-duty supervisor — guaranteed within 60 seconds
- Complete session notes on the NXG Thrive platform during and after each contact
- Attend fortnightly clinical supervision with the Clinical Lead
- Complete mandatory training (safeguarding, data security, crisis triage) within two weeks of starting.
What We Need
- Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or Mental Health Nursing (postgrad preferred)
- Registration with HPCSA, SACSSP, or equivalent —registration (HCPC/BACP) is a strong advantage
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in mental health, including crisis work
- Experience with risk assessment, safety planning, and working with self-harm or suicidality
- Excellent written English — this is your primary clinical tool
- Available for nights (22:00–06:00 SAST) and weekends — this is a non-negotiable requirement.
If you currently hold or have previously held UK registration (HCPC, BACP, NCS, NMC) and are based in Cape Town, you are strongly encouraged to apply. UK-registered practitioners may be offered an expedited placement and additional support with registration renewal costs.
