At St Cyprian’s School, we know that great teachers are not simply trained. They are shaped. Through relationships. Through challenge. Through reflection. Through being immersed in a school environment that expects excellence, humanity, curiosity, and contribution.
We are inviting applications for our Teacher Internship Programme starting in January 2027.
This is not a “stand in the corner and observe quietly” kind of internship.
This is a full-bodied, sleeves-rolled-up, all-in experience. The kind where you discover very quickly whether teaching is truly your calling — and if it is, you will grow immensely.
We are looking for aspiring teachers who are serious about education as a profession and who are eager to contribute meaningfully to the life of a vibrant, high-performing independent girls’ school.
- Bring energy, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
- Are actively deepening their subject knowledge and professional capability.
- Understand that teaching extends far beyond the classroom.
- Are willing to contribute to sport, culture, service, and broader school life.
- Work well within a team and carry their share of responsibility.
- Can receive feedback with maturity and professionalism.
- Are reliable, consistent, and accountable. (Yes, even on cold Cape Town winter mornings when the duvet starts negotiating terms and conditions.)
This programme will likely suit individuals who:
- Are studying towards a teaching qualification or intend pursuing one.
- Are committed to teaching as a long-term career.
- Want exposure to a dynamic, well-resourced educational environment.
- Are eager to learn from experienced educators and mentors.
- Are willing to work hard, reflect deeply, and grow continuously.
Qualified, interested candidates are required to upload:
- A detailed CV which includes a brief covering letter and current contact details of three referees
- A copy of ID
- Qualifications
- Answer the screening questions via our online application portal
Failure to meet the minimum requirements will result in disqualification. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for further discussions.
- Meaningful classroom exposure and teaching practice opportunities.
- Observation and mentorship from experienced teachers.
- Professional guidance and regular developmental feedback.
- Access to staff development and in-service training opportunities.
- A structured onboarding journey of up to four years (depending on course requirements).
- A competitive monthly stipend and fee assistance.
At St Cyprian’s, we care deeply about excellence — but never excellence without heart.
We are looking for future educators who can think critically, connect authentically, and contribute positively to a community that values both high standards and human dignity.
If that excites you a little… and terrifies you just enough… you may be exactly the kind of person we are looking for.
