About the Role
Aryan Benevolent Home Council (ABH) is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Children's Home Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership to our residential child and youth care facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care while maintaining compliance with all applicable legislation, Department of Social Development (DSD) requirements, and organizational policies. This role requires a strong leader with proven experience in residential child care management, people leadership, performance management, and labour relations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership of the Children's Home.
- Ensuring the safety, protection, wellbeing and holistic development of all children in care.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the facility and ensuring compliance with the Children's Act, DSD norms and standards, and other applicable legislation.
- Leading, coaching and developing multidisciplinary teams to achieve high performance.
- Managing employee performance through the implementation of KPIs, probation reviews, performance appraisals and Performance Improvement Plans.
- Managing employee relations, including internal disciplinary processes, grievances and labour relations in accordance with organizational policies and South African labour legislation.
- Overseeing budgets, resource allocation and operational expenditure within delegated authority.
- Maintaining effective stakeholder relationships with the Department of Social Development, schools, healthcare providers, donors, community partners and other external stakeholders.
- Ensuring accurate reporting, quality assurance, risk management and continuous improvement across the Children's Home.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Social Sciences, Public Management or a related field.
- Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable (e.g. SACSSP).
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a residential child and youth care environment.
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a management or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience in staff performance management, coaching and employee development.
- Sound knowledge and experience in labour relations, including disciplinary and grievance management.
- Experience managing budgets, operations and compliance within a social service environment.
- Working knowledge of the Children's Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and POPIA.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
