About the Position
Cultura Fresh is looking for a dynamic and hands-on Hydroponic Planting & Table Turnaround Supervisor to join our Cultivation team in Klapmuts.
The successful candidate will lead the teams responsible for cleaning hydroponic growing tables, transporting seedlings from the nursery and completing daily planting activities. This fast-paced role requires a proactive leader who can coordinate multiple teams, achieve production targets and maintain the highest standards of hygiene, quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and motivate the table-cleaning, seedling transport and planting teams.
- Plan and allocate daily work according to planting schedules and operational priorities.
- Monitor productivity and ensure daily production targets are achieved.
- Supervise the cleaning and disinfection of hydroponic growing tables.
- Inspect tables to ensure they are fully functional and ready for planting.
- Identify and report damaged or faulty tables and follow up on repairs.
- Coordinate the safe and timely movement of seedlings from the nursery to the cultivation area.
- Ensure the correct lettuce varieties and quantities are planted according to the planting plan.
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning materials and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Complete all required GLOBALG.A.P. documentation and production records.
- Submit accurate operational reports twice daily, highlighting progress, staffing, production and operational risks.
- Work closely with the Chief Cultivation Officer to ensure smooth daily operations and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience in agriculture, horticulture, food production, manufacturing or another fast-paced operational environment.
- Proven experience managing teams against daily production targets.
- Strong planning, coordination and time-management skills.
- Ability to interpret planting plans and production schedules.
- Basic stock-control and record-keeping experience.
- Good numerical and reporting skills.
- Ability to identify equipment faults and escalate maintenance requirements.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Willingness to work flexible hours according to operational requirements.
Advantageous
- Experience in hydroponic farming or commercial lettuce production.
- Knowledge of nursery operations, transplanting and seedling handling.
- Experience cleaning and disinfecting agricultural or food production equipment.
- Familiarity with GLOBALG.A.P. and agricultural compliance requirements.
- Relevant qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, Production Management or a related field.
