As a Production Planner, you are responsible for scheduling and coordinating the manufacturing process to increase efficiency, minimize waste, and optimize resources.
You must have expertise in planning, organizing, and evaluating production schedules, raw materials, and labour requirements.

- Communicates daily and weekly production plan requirements to stakeholders to ensure smooth material and production flow to achieve service level targets
- Communicates daily with stores operators, document controller, finished product administrator and forklift drivers
- Communicates daily demand change exceptions to meet unforeseen demand deviations to production packing and mixing supervisors
- Collaborates weekly with customer service, HO warehouse and production teams to ensure optimum production schedules to meet customer and business requirements
Formal Qualifications
Minimum:
Matric
Experience in Production planning (QBE)
Must be able to communicate in English
Strong in excel application
Prior Experience
Minimum:
5+ years’ experience in production and planning
Preferred, previous experience in manage staff

DECISION MAKING

Determining weekly production plan for mixing and production packing within constraints of available labour pool and machine availability affected by breakdowns(BD) and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
Determines sequence and size of production orders for respective process lines to optimize effective utilization of resources (Man & machine) whilst achieving agreed service levels
Established size and locations of staging area for respective process lines
Determines daily staging requirements for respective production lines in conjunction with production supervisor
Prioritization production requirements for process line in collaboration with Production packing supervisor
Determining root cause and possible solutions to production productivity underperformance and quality nonconformances
Determining root cause and possible solutions to Safety and Environmental incidents
Refer any proposed solution that incur additional costs for implementation or changes to processes to manufacturing manager
PLANNING

Planning time frames are weekly (10calendar days) for production planning requirements
Continuous Improvement Projects timeframe up to 3 Months
Creates and issues the picking lists daily for respective production lines according to fixed daily plan
Schedules transfers and receipts of materials to meet plan within assigned storage space limitations
Plans implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
Plans and coordinates production of new products
Root Cause analysis and implementation one month
Daily exceptions management to ensure material availability to meet production plan within constraints of storage space allocation
ACCOUNTABILITY

Feedback on requests for finished product availability within 4(four) hours from when the request was submitted by sales or warehouse
Achieve the Finished Products levels at HO warehouse are at target stock levels on 1st of month
Investigate and feedback on stock outs for GD finished products and Cat A customer brands
On-time fulfilment of committed “Make-to-Order” Sales Orders
Supply of product on-time, as per committed dates for transfer and availability to HO distribution warehouse
Materials are availability, production able execute issued production plan without delay [waiting time].
Provide feedback via RCA report on production delays related to production plans, documentation and/or material availability
Investigates, resolves and reports on signification deviations affecting delivery and execution of fixed production plans
Initiates measures to improve production planning and production execution processes
Achieve product availability and customer service levels objectives
Accommodates the PPM as communicated by Maintenance Foreman
Executing assigned CI Projects within communicate and agreed project timeframes
Reporting KPA within agreed time frames
Creating process line change over job cards
Drafting works instruction and procedures within agreed timeframes for approval by Manufacturing Manager
Refer decision for additional manpower resources to meet demand for meeting stock and service level objectives
COMMUNICATION

Communicates availability of product for sales order back logs to requestor within 60min of submission
Communicates the weekly and daily fixed plans for mixing and packing to respective line supervisors
Communicates the weekly the material shortages for proposed weekly plan to Factory buyer for local sourced materials
Communicates weekly and daily materials requisitions to HO warehouse staff
Communicates planned process/equipment change overs to maintenance and production at least one day in advance
Communicates planned production order exceptions, for example awaiting delivery urgent component and/or deviation from standard recipe.
Communicates findings from assigned RCA’s and proposed solutions to Manufacturing Manager
Coordinates weekly production planning meetings and agreed actions to deliver production plans
Communicates at agreed intervals progress and outcomes of assigned continuous improvement projects
