AAH Construction is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs, preparing bills of quantities, handling tender pricing, monitoring budgets, and ensuring that construction, building maintenance, and plumbing-related projects are completed within approved financial limits.
The ideal candidate must have strong cost management experience in the built environment and the ability to support projects from tender stage through to final account.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a similar cost management role
- NQF Level 6 or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying / Built Environment
- Experience in construction, building maintenance, and plumbing-related projects
- SACQSP registration as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) will be an added advantage
- Strong knowledge of bills of quantities, tender pricing, cost estimating, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, scope of works, and tender documents
- Good knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes
- Strong numerical, analytical, reporting, and negotiation skills
- Computer literacy, including MS Office and quantity surveying/costing software
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and pricing schedules
- Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications for pricing purposes
- Assist with tender submissions and commercial documentation
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and expenditure
- Prepare interim valuations, payment certificates, and cost reports
- Assess and price variations, claims, and additional works
- Liaise with project managers, site teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
- Support procurement by obtaining quotations and comparing supplier/subcontractor prices
- Prepare final accounts and assist with contract close-out
- Identify cost risks and recommend cost-saving measures where possible
