KEY PURPOSE OF JOB
Our team in Somerset West has a permanent position for a Vibration Operator Assistant to assist and support the Vibration Technicians in the operation and maintenance of the Vibration/Shaker. This role is integral to ensuring the facility operates efficiently, with a focus on collaborating closely with technicians to meet product and client requirements.
KEY TASKS
- Assist Vibration Technicians with hands-on test setups, including mounting and removing units from the shaker table and setting up instrumentation (e.g., accelerometers)
- Support the execution of vibration tests as per project requirements under the guidance of Vibration Technicians
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment
- Collaborate with technicians to configure and set up files for running vibration profiles and manage configuration files on the PDM database
- Assist with post-processing and analysis of test data to support the preparation of client-facing reports
- Monitor and report consumable stock levels to ensure adequate supply for operations
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks to support the facility's smooth operation as required by the team or company
PREREQUISITES
Qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate
- Diploma or equivalent Mechanical Qualification from a recognized institution would be advantageous
Experience & Knowledge:
- 1+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a high-tech environment, ideally in a supporting role
- Hands-on experience with mechanical testing and maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with structural analysis and instrumentation for data logging
- Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements
