Purpose of the Role
The Foam Upper is responsible for applying foam, padding, and related materials to furniture frames to achieve the required shape, comfort, and quality standards before upholstery covering.
Key Responsibilities

Apply foam, batting, and padding to furniture frames according to specifications and drawings

Cut and shape foam accurately to fit different furniture components

Use adhesives and tools correctly to secure foam in place

Ensure proper build-up to achieve the correct comfort, shape, and finish
-
Inspect frames before foaming to ensure they are suitable for the next process

Work closely with upholsterers to ensure smooth workflow and product quality

Maintain consistency in product standards across all units

Minimise material waste and report any discrepancies

Keep the work area clean, safe, and organised
Skills & Competencies

Good understanding of upholstery processes and materials

Ability to read and interpret basic drawings or specifications

Attention to detail and quality standards

Manual dexterity and accuracy in cutting and shaping foam

Experience & Requirements

Experience in upholstery or foam-up operations preferred
