We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate quotations, costing projects, sourcing supplier pricing, and supporting the successful delivery of projects from tender stage through to handover.
This role suits someone with strong technical understanding, commercial awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Measure quantities and prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Prepare quotations, tenders, and pricing proposals.
- Source and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Calculate material, labour, transport, and installation costs.
- Analyse project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal departments.
- Maintain estimating records, costing databases, and pricing schedules.
- Assist with project handovers to operations and production teams.
- Monitor market pricing trends and supplier rates.
- Ensure estimates comply with company standards and project specifications.
- Meet tender and quotation deadlines accurately and efficiently.
- Travel to client sites and meetings.
Requirements & Skills
- Proven experience as an Estimator in construction, shopfitting, signage, manufacturing, steel, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of materials, fabrication, installation, and project costing.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong negotiation and supplier communication abilities.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or related field advantageous.
