This role supports the Catering Manager in overseeing daily food service operations across dining facilities, ensuring exceptional customer service, food quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with health and safety standards. Assist with the day-to-day management of the school catering operation. Supervise kitchen and service staff to ensure efficient meal production and service. Support menu planning in line with nutritional guidelines and dietary requirements. Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control. Ensure compliance with food safety, health, hygiene, and HACCP standards. Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving, and inventory management. Manage food and labour costs within budgetary targets. Support the Catering Manager with staff scheduling, training, and performance management. Build positive relationships with school stakeholders, learners, staff, and parents. Assist with catering for school events, meetings, and special functions. Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.
Sound knowledge of food safety legislation, HACCP, and hygiene practices. Strong leadership and team management skills. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management, Catering Management, Food Service Management, or related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 2–3 years' supervisory experience in contract catering, hospitality, or a school catering environment.
