Job Overview:
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial operations within the company, with a strong focus on ensuring the accuracy, integrity and completeness of financial transactions. This role will require hands-on involvement in processing certain financial functions as well as leading and coaching team members within remit. The position is critical to the success and growth of the business and will work closely across all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Processing:
- Ultimately responsible for the accuracy and timely completion of the monthly/yearly accounting information within the ERP system in line with IFRS accrual accounting.
- Oversee all areas of the financial operations processing including review/coaching of debtors, creditors, orders and inventory clerks.
- Directly process core financial activities, including but not limited to:
· Payroll processing
· General ledger entries/journals, ensuring proper coding and classification of transactions as required
· Forex Bank Accounts reconciliation
· Fixed Assets
- Lead the timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage cash flow, including forecasting and liquidity management, to ensure the company meets its financial obligations.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements ensuring that content within is accurate and complete.
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and accounting systems.
Accounting:
- Strong ERP processing skills with a deep understanding across the platform functionality.
- Monitor costs, recommending cost-saving initiatives where possible.
- Ensure accurate recording of production data and inventory levels.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with relevant local and international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/GAAP) and tax regulations.
- Oversee external audits, ensuring the timely completion and resolution of audit findings.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making, including new product development, pricing strategies, and market expansion.
- Collaborate with various departments to assess financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including currency risks, credit risks, and operational risks.
Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team under the financial controller remit, ensuring their continued professional growth.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (SAIPA qualification preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial controller role with a strong focus on processing financial transactions, especially in a manufacturing or wholesale environment.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, and cost accounting.
- Experience in the nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical, or FMCG industries is highly desirable.
- Strong Proficiency in financial management software (SAGE preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Knowledge of local and international tax regulations and compliance requirements.

Working Conditions:
- Full-time, office-based position four days a week/ one day work from home.

Remuneration:- R40,000 to R50,000 p/m depending on experience
