Location: Sunninghill (travel to learner’s home required)
Hours:
- Fixed session: Mondays, 16:30–17:30 (one hour)
- Possible additional session: Fridays (time to be confirmed)
- Rate: R260 per hour
About the role:
We are seeking a reliable, engaging English tutor to support a Grade 4 IGCSE learner. The tutor will deliver one-on-one lessons focused on reading, writing, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and exam skills aligned with the IGCSE curriculum and the learner’s needs. Lessons should be tailored, interactive, and progress-focused.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver structured, age-appropriate English lessons.
- Assess learner’s strengths and gaps; set academic goals and track progress.
- Prepare practice exercises, reading material, and short assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggested home practice.
- Communicate regularly with the parent/guardian about progress and needs.
- Travel to Sunninghill for in-person lessons.
Requirements:
- Completed university qualification or currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education or a degree related to the English language (e.g., BA English, Linguistics, Education).
- Experience tutoring or teaching children at primary/early secondary level preferred.
- Strong command of English grammar, literacy, and writing skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to travel to Sunninghill.
- Comfortable working with IGCSE-aligned materials and exam preparation.
- Police clearance (or willing to obtain) and references preferred.
Advantageous:
- Ability to tutor Mathematics as an additional subject.
- Familiarity with IGCSE assessment style for English.
- Experience with differentiated instruction for diverse learning needs.
