Purpose of the job
To control and manage the Planning, Procurement and Logistics functions to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations. The role ensures effective integration with other business functions while enabling a high-performing, compliant, and continuously improving supply chain environment with competent and empowered employees.
2. Key Responsibilities
Stock Management
- Ensure effective stock management and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain optimum stock levels and accurate monthly stocktakes.
- Manage blocked and quality stock through corrective actions.
- Monitor stock availability, waste levels, and cost efficiency (cents per litre).
Procurement Management
- Ensure effective procurement of dry goods aligned to production plans and forecasts.
- Source optimal suppliers outside group purchasing contracts when required.
- Monitor procurement performance through variance reporting.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and performance reporting.
- Facilitate supplier reviews and audits, and manage MRP processes.
- Monitor stock holding days and procurement compliance.
Production Planning
- Ensure accurate and efficient production planning processes.
- Facilitate weekly production planning meetings and bottling forums.
- Align planning activities with Sales, Marketing, and forecasting requirements.
- Ensure production plans are distributed and adhered to.
- Monitor production performance metrics such as stockholding days and service levels.
Cost and Efficiency Management
- Drive cost effectiveness by reducing variable and fixed costs.
- Manage budgets (Opex and Capex) and ensure adherence to policies.
- Improve operational efficiencies, reduce losses, and limit waste.
- Optimise resource allocation to support cost-effective production.
Quality Management Systems
- Ensure compliance with QMS standards (ISO, HACCP, BRC, IFS, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Participate in Food Safety, Environmental, and Food Defence teams.
- Address audit findings and corrective actions (CPARs).
People Management & Leadership
- Lead teams in line with Supply Chain Manufacturing Operating Principles.
- Drive performance management processes and employee development.
- Ensure effective employee relations, training, and coaching.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of departmental resources.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
- Maintain adherence to environmental, risk, and safety procedures.
- Identify and rectify unsafe conditions and ensure compliance audits.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Drive innovation initiatives aligned to business goals.
- Lead problem-solving and project management activities.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and track benefits.
- Ensure execution of action plans and corrective interventions.
3. Job Requirements
3.1. Education
- Bachelor's Degree or a relevant qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or related field.
3.2. Experience
- 10 years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, planning, and warehouse management.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and complex operations
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience in SAP and Microsoft Office
