If you've ever thought about coming to New Zealand, we have an opening for a FIXED TERM CONTRACT in New Zealand for our summer, November to March (exact dates negotiable) for three to four months for a suitably qualified automotive technician.
The successful applicant MUST have two or more years of genuine automotive air-conditioning experience to qualify for a skilled migrant visa and this MUST be reflected in your CV/cover letter for us to progress with your application and to satisfy immigration requirements, if you needed a visa. Please DO NOT apply if you cannot satisfy this as you will not be considered for employment on this occassion.
CoolCar is a long-established specialist automotive air-conditioning, heating and auto-electrical business, with workshops in Hamilton, North Shore and Henderson, New Zealand. We are not a general repair shop — A/C, heating and related electrical diagnosis is what we do every day.
Our technicians work on a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including cars, vans, motorhomes, caravans, trucks, tractors, hybrids, EVs and classics. The work is varied, practical and diagnostic, with plenty of evaporators, condensers, leak testing, fault finding and problem-solving. We work on all sorts of makes and models.
We work 10 hour days, typically and rostered and some extra Saturdays. The workshop is very busy during these months, so only those with genuine ability in removing dashboards and other car AC repairs can be considered.
Accommodation and transport is available, if required.
Before applying, please ensure you can answer YES to all of the following:
✓ I have at least 2 years' recent experience repairing automotive air-conditioning systems.
✓ I have diagnosed and repaired refrigerant leaks (not just re-gassed systems).
If you have not demonstrated this in your application, it will not proceed any further and there will be no further response from CoolCar.
✓ I understand that, if I require a New Zealand work visa, I must be able to provide evidence of my qualifications and experience.
✓ I have researched New Zealand work visa requirements and believe I am eligible.
