Job Overview:
The Tactical Response Officer (TRO) is responsible for safeguarding the game farm's wildlife, property, and personnel from external and internal threats. This role requires a strong understanding of security protocols, tactical response, wildlife safety, and emergency management. The TRO will respond to incidents such as poaching, unauthorized access, and natural disasters, ensuring the protection of the farm's valuable assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Patrols & Surveillance:
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols throughout the game farm, including wildlife areas, borders, and assets.
- Implement perimeter security measures to prevent unauthorized access or poaching attempts.
- Incident Response:
- Lead response efforts for security breaches, wildlife distress, or emergency situations.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, wildlife officials, and emergency services when required.
- Ensure rapid and effective containment of incidents to minimize impact on wildlife and farm operations.
- Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise and manage a team of security personnel during shifts and tactical operations.
- Provide training on tactical response and emergency procedures.
- Ensure all security protocols are followed, and staff are adequately prepared for any situation.
- Risk Assessment & Reporting:
- Regularly assess potential security risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Compile detailed incident reports, including observations, actions taken, and recommendations for future prevention.
- Work closely with farm management to ensure compliance with relevant laws, policies, and regulations regarding wildlife conservation and security.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response:
- Conduct regular drills and mock scenarios with the team to ensure readiness.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Psira Grade C (Minimum)
- Weapon Competencies:
Personal and Business for Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle and Manual
- Experience:
- Proven experience in security, military, law enforcement, or tactical response roles (at least 2 years).
- Experience working in a wildlife-related or agricultural environment is highly advantageous.
- Experience with firearms, surveillance technology, and emergency response protocols is preferred.
- Previous track record in Anti-Poaching will be advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of poaching prevention techniques, wildlife protection, and conservation laws advantageous.
- Familiarity with tactical equipment such as drones, night vision, GPS systems, and firearms.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical fitness and the ability to endure outdoor conditions for long periods.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods.
- Capable of responding quickly in high-stress and potentially dangerous situations.
