Our client is seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Executive Accountant to lead group-level financial operations, reporting, compliance, and strategic finance activities. This is a senior leadership position requiring a technically strong accounting professional with proven experience managing multiple legal entities, complex consolidations, executive reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will be an independent self-starter who thrives in a hands-on environment and can provide strategic financial insight while maintaining exceptional operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
Lead and manage the full finance function across multiple legal entities within the group.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Oversee the month-end and quarter-end close processes.
Drive financial controls, governance, and reporting excellence across the business.
Monitor working capital, cash flow, liquidity, and treasury management.
Prepare management accounts and executive-level financial reports.
Group Consolidation & Reporting
Lead quarterly and annual group consolidations.
Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP reporting requirements.
Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and balances.
Produce consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
Support statutory reporting requirements across all entities.
Taxation & Compliance
Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies within legal and regulatory frameworks.
Manage corporate taxation matters, including deferred tax calculations and tax loss utilisation.
Oversee VAT, income tax, and other statutory compliance requirements.
Liaise with tax advisors and regulatory authorities where required.
Risk Management & Audit Oversight
Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks.
Track and manage audit findings and remediation plans.
Coordinate internal and external audit processes.
Ensure ongoing compliance with financial regulations and corporate governance requirements.
Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Executive & Strategic Support
Provide financial insight and decision-making support to Executive Management and the Board.
Prepare board packs, financial presentations, and strategic analysis.
Support lenders, investors, auditors, and other key stakeholders.
Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance reviews.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support
Support acquisition evaluations, financial due diligence, and integration activities.
Conduct financial modelling and investment analysis.
Assess commercial opportunities and strategic growth initiatives.
Assist with post-acquisition financial integration and reporting.
Leadership & Team Development
Provide leadership and mentorship to finance team members.
Establish a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Drive high-performance standards within the finance function.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professionally recognised accounting qualification.
Strong grounding in IFRS and/or GAAP applied within a group environment.
Experience
Minimum 5+ years' post-qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role.
Proven experience managing group-level finance across multiple legal entities.
Demonstrated experience with monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
Strong intercompany accounting and consolidation experience.
Experience supporting Executive Management, Boards, Auditors, Lenders, and Investors.
Exposure to M&A transactions, strategic finance, and corporate finance activities will be advantageous.
Strong taxation, deferred tax, audit, and compliance knowledge.
