Are you an experienced cloud engineering professional with a passion for building scalable, secure and high-performing infrastructure platforms?
Lesaka Merchant is looking for a CLOUD ENGINEER to join our Merchants Operations Division. This role is ideal for a technically skilled individual who can design, build and maintain cloud environments using Infrastructure-as-Code and support modern DevOps practices.
Job purpose
To design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure and environments using Infrastructure-as-Code, ensuring scalable, secure and cost-efficient platforms that support application delivery and business operations.
Key Responsibility Areas
Cloud Infrastructure Provisioning & Operations

Provision and manage cloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS, Kubernetes)

Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, etc.)

Maintain cloud environments across dev, test and production
-
Monitor infrastructure health and resolve issues
-
Ensure high availability of cloud services
Cloud Engineering & Optimisation
-
Optimise cloud performance (compute, storage, networking)
-
Implement cost optimisation strategies (rightsizing, reservations)
-
Support migration of workloads to cloud platforms
-
Improve scalability and efficiency of infrastructure
-
Maintain tagging and governance standards
Cloud Networking & Connectivity
-
Configure VPCs/VNets, subnets and network security
-
Manage hybrid connectivity (VPN, private endpoints)
-
Ensure secure and performant connectivity
-
Support integration with on-prem infrastructure
-
Troubleshoot network-related issues
DevOps & CI/CD Enablement
-
Support CI/CD pipeline infrastructure
-
Automate environment provisioning for deployments
-
Integrate infrastructure with DevOps toolchains
-
Support automated releases and rollbacks
-
Collaborate with development teams
Security, Compliance & Governance
-
Implement cloud security best practices
-
Ensure compliance with policies and standards
-
Manage access control and permissions
-
Support audit and compliance processes
-
Monitor for security risks
Qualifications & Experience
-
Diploma or Degree in Information Systems, IT or related field (advantageous)

3–6 years cloud engineering experience
- Certifications / Advantageous

AWS / Azure / GCP certifications
-
Terraform certification (advantageous)
