Overview
ReCha is the Jobs Fund (National Treasury) contracting partner for a multi-year
employment and circular economy project, with WasteWant Waste Management as the
implementing and technical partner. We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to
lead project financial management, governance, compliance and audit readiness,
ensuring accurate reporting and strong internal controls across all project transaction
flows.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the dedicated project bank account, including all grant and matched- funding inflows and outflows.
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls, approval frameworks, and project-specific financial policies and SOPs.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, expenditure monitoring, and variance analysis; proactively flag financial risks.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and donor-compliant financial reports for governance and decision-making.
- Maintain audit readiness; coordinate audits; prepare audit files and respond to findings.
- Partner with RLabs, WasteWant, matched-funding partners, auditors and banks to ensure compliant financial operations.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Finance Manager / senior finance role with extensive end-to-end financial management experience (budgeting, forecasting, reporting, controls and audit readiness).
- Proven ability to implement financial systems, SOPs and internal controls, and to maintain strong compliance documentation.
- Experience managing ring-fenced project/programme accounts and multi-stakeholder transaction flows is advantageous.
- Donor-funded / grant-funded / public-sector project finance exposure is advantageous but not required.
- National Treasury / Jobs Fund exposure is advantageous but not required.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CA(SA), ACCA, CPA) is advantageous.
Skills and competencies
- Strong financial analysis, budgeting and reporting skills.
- High attention to detail, integrity and a strong governance mindset.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
