We're EA Accountancy, a Manchester-based practice working with UK marketing and service agencies. We're growing fast and we're not the dusty, year-end-only type of firm. We do proper monthly work, real advice, and we treat our clients like partners — which means the person doing their books needs to be sharp, reliable, and able to hold a conversation.
This is a senior role. You'll own a portfolio of UK limited companies end to end, and you'll deal with those clients directly. No hiding behind a spreadsheet.
What you'll actually be doing
- Running full bookkeeping for a portfolio of UK limited companies, to trial balance
- Bank reconciliations, VAT returns, month-end close — accurately and on time
- Talking directly to UK clients: answering queries, chasing paperwork, keeping them in the loop, in clear plain English
- Spotting problems before they land on our desk, not after
- Keeping Xero clean and up to date so nothing gets missed
What you need to have (non-negotiable)
- Solid experience inside a UK accountancy practice — not in-house for a single business
- Hands-on experience working UK client books: you understand UK VAT, how a UK limited company runs, and the UK compliance calendar
- Strong Xero skills (QuickBooks a bonus)
- Excellent written and spoken English — you'll be client-facing, so this matters
- The discipline to own your portfolio and hit deadlines without being chased
