A watchman, also known as a security guard or night watchman, is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of a designated area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrolling and Monitoring: Regularly patrols the premises to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
- Surveillance: Monitors security cameras and alarms to detect any suspicious activities.
- Reporting: Documents daily activities, incidents, and observations in detailed reports.
- Emergency Response: Acts as the first responder to emergencies, such as fires or medical incidents, and coordinates with emergency services.
- Access Control: Manages entry and exit points to ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises.
Skills and Qualifications
- Attention to Detail: Must be vigilant and attentive to notice any unusual activities.
- Communication Skills: Needs to effectively communicate with law enforcement, emergency services, and the public.
- Physical Fitness: Often requires walking or standing for long periods.

Work Environment
- Static: Watchmen are stationed at a fixed locations and patrolling by foot.
- Shifts: Work 3 days, 3 nights and 3 off rotations.
