Job Overview
We are looking for a precise, reliable, and hands-on Electronics Manufacturing & Repair Assistant to join our production workshop full-time. In this role, you will work closely with the business owner to assemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assist with general electronic product manufacturing tasks.
If you have a sharp eye for detail, excellent manual dexterity, and love working with hardware components at a test bench, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
· Manual PCB Assembly: Hand-solder through-hole and surface-mount technology (SMT/SMD) components (including fine-pitch ICs, resistors, capacitors, and connectors).
· Inspection & Quality Control: Perform visual quality inspections using microscopes and magnifying lamps to catch defects such as solder bridges, dry joints, missing components, or incorrect polarities.
· Rework & Repair: Safely desolder faulty components and perform delicate track or pad repairs using hot-air stations, desoldering pumps, and braid without damaging the PCB.
· BOM & Inventory Matching: Read and interpret schematic diagrams, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure the correct parts are placed on the correct boards.
· General Manufacturing Support: Help with final product assembly, mechanical enclosure preparation, wire stripping, crimping, cable harnessing, and final product packaging.
· Workshop Maintenance: Maintain safe workbench environments by following strict Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protocols and keeping soldering equipment clean.
Required Skills & Experience
· Proven Soldering Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of practical experience in manual PCB soldering (SMD and through-hole is essential).
· Component Familiarity: Ability to rapidly identify small electronic packages (e.g., 0603, 0805, SOIC, QFP) and read component values/orientation markers.
· Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using standard workshop tools including temperature-controlled soldering irons, hot-air rework stations, digital multimeters, wire strippers, and magnifying optics.
· High Attention to Detail: Exceptional hand-eye coordination and patience required for working under magnification for extended periods.
· Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken) to read technical spreadsheets and assembly guides accurately.
Preferred (Advantageous) Qualifications
· A certificate, diploma, or TVET N-course qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade.
· Formal certification in IPC manufacturing standards (specifically IPC-A-610 or IPC-7711/7721).
· Basic experience operating small workshop machinery like 3D printers, pick-and-place machines, or desktop CNCs.
Pay: R10 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
