Introduction
Established industrial services company requires an experienced Safety Officer to join its team on a fixed-term contract based at Amandelbult, Limpopo. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with health, safety and mining legislation while promoting a proactive safety culture across site operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety and mining legislation
- Develop, implement and maintain SHE policies, procedures and management systems
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the organisation
- Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, training and emergency drills
- Compile and maintain site-specific SHE Management Plans and Fall Protection Plans
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments
- Monitor housekeeping, PPE compliance, plant inspections and safe work practices
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Compile and maintain SHE documentation, legal files, reports and training records
- Coordinate safety meetings, legal appointments and contractor compliance
- Assist with PPE, medical bookings, certifications and general SHE administration
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (Grade 12)
- SAMTRAC Certificate
- Safety Auditing Certificate
- Blasting Certificate
- Electrical Trade Certificate (Electrical/Instrumentation) and/or Mechanical Trade Certificate (Boilermaker/Fitter)
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Safety Officer within the mining, industrial or manufacturing sector
- Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments and safety audits
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's licence
- Must be available to start at short notice
