We are looking for an ambitious, commercially astute, and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to join our Growth Team and play a pivotal role in accelerating our expansion through strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and advisor growth initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Head of Growth: Wealth, this role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future growth trajectory of one of South Africa's most exciting wealth management businesses.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional sales role.
You will be responsible for identifying, building, and converting strategic acquisition opportunities within the financial advice industry. Your focus will be on developing meaningful relationships with Independent Financial Advisors, financial planning practices, and wealth businesses while driving mergers, acquisitions, and advisor integration initiatives.
You will work closely with senior leadership and have a direct impact on the growth strategy of the business.
What You'll Be Responsible ForDrive Growth Through Mergers & Acquisitions
- Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of Independent Financial Advisors, advisor books, and financial planning firms.
- Identify, qualify, and engage prospective acquisition and partnership opportunities.
- Lead the end-to-end business development process from initial engagement through to signed agreements.
- Assess strategic, cultural, and commercial fit of potential opportunities.
- Develop trusted relationships with advisors, business owners, and key industry stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Executive Leadership on deal structuring, valuation discussions, and commercial negotiations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure successful integration of acquired advisors and businesses.
- Build, refine, and scale a repeatable and sustainable M&A business development framework.
- Represent GCI Wealth professionally within the broader Financial Services industry.
What We're Looking ForQualifications & Experience
- BCom Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in:
- Business Development
- Strategic Sales
- Relationship Management
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Financial Services Growth Strategies
- Proven track record of developing and converting high-value business pipelines.
- Strong understanding of the Financial Services landscape.
- Knowledge of Independent Financial Advisors, wealth management businesses, and financial planning practices.
- Experience in deal structuring, financial analysis, or accounting would be highly advantageous.
