About the Role
As Orchard Manager, you will take ownership of the overall performance of the orchard, leading the delivery of operational, production and financial objectives while fostering a high-performing and safety-focused culture.
Working closely with our agronomy and operational teams, you will drive orchard productivity, oversee key farming activities, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of orchard production, including horticultural operations, harvesting and on-farm processing
- Partner with the technical agronomy team to develop and implement orchard strategies
- Develop and manage operational and capital budgets
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators and business outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and on-farm projects
- Maximise asset utilisation and operational efficiency
- Lead, mentor and develop a skilled workforce
- Ensure a strong safety culture and compliance with all workplace requirements
- Manage contractors and external service providers on site
About You
You are a hands-on leader who combines strong horticultural knowledge with commercial awareness and excellent people management skills.
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years' experience within permanent cropping systems, including tree nuts, vineyards, citrus, pome fruit, stone fruit or similar horticultural operations
- Previous leadership experience within agriculture or horticulture
- Strong understanding of horticultural production systems
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
- Sound computer and reporting skills
- Current driver's licence
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing budgets, operational planning and continuous improvement projects
- Knowledge of large-scale orchard production systems
